Being ungrateful !

As always I am going to share another of my personal experiences which made me realize how ungrateful I have been. This little incident is about Malik Saab, whom I met recently.

I came to meet Malik Saab in an NGO (Poor children’s education) related activity and got to know that He is working with one of the largest FMCGs of the world. I was quite impressed with his easy going and impressive personality and my usual fascination for FMCGs was another factor as well.

While discussing the reasons for joining that particular NGO, all of us shared our love for humanitarian works, the ideas of giving back to society etc. When Malik Sb’s turned came, he gave a very unusual and blatant reason for being in this NGO activity. He informed that the reason is neither the attachment with the NGOs nor the love of social works, “it was basically the love for children.” Now that sounded usual and unusual at the same time.

As we grinded in to find out the reasons behind, he informed that he is a proud father of 3 children ( 2 boys and 1 daughter ).The daughter is studying medical while his other two sons are “Special children” ! Now that came as a shock to all of us. He told that both of them are deaf and dumb by birth and he doesn’t have complains with that!

As he started to inform the details that how both of his sons have grown up and studied  in normal children school, made all of us stunned.  He said that His son passed matriculation with “D” grade but that “D” was much better than “A” grades of other normal students. I agree with his opinion as Special children studying in a Normal Private school is almost an impossible thing for me !

That’s not it, the elder son is currently ranked 6^th in all Pakistan special swimmers. He’s been into the special Olympics  initial squad but due to the usual intervention of highly ranked politicians , he hasn’t represented Pakistan globally in Special Olympics yet!
His love for the children and his pride for his special sons made all of us in awe of him ! This is truly an inspiration for me and many others in that NGO activity, all of us look at him as a truly motivational fugure. The way he brought his special children up and the way his children had been carrying themselves is commendable.

This little incident had taught me a lot as people like me who have been ungrateful for all the happenings and daily life issues must learn to appreciate the good things in life. 

Those special kids never felt disheartened, worked like normal individuals and that’s how ALLAH rewarded them with so much extra-ordinary abilities. We as humans show no gratitude towards ALLAH for all the good things which happen to us. On the other hand we do complain about all the miniature issues going against us. Its time for us to analyze ourselves, be grateful to ALLAH for each and everything and stop complaining about the negative things happening with us and around us. 

As ALLAH PAK in Quran Kareem says:

“Surely ALLAH will defend those who believe; surely ALLAH does not love any one who is unfaithful, ungrateful.” (Surah-Al-Hajj)
